The Office of Sustainability is looking for student volunteers to be Sustainability Recycling Ambassadors at the hockey game on Friday, Dec. 3. Food and refreshments are available to volunteers before the game while we debrief the event and review assignments from 4:30-5:30 p.m. at University Crossing Conference Room 158. Anyone interested is encouraged to email Sustainability@uml.edu to be added to the volunteer list. Please see the event details listed below.
Event: UMass Lowell vs. UMass Amherst Hockey Game
Role: Sustainability Recycling Ambassador
Responsibility and Purpose: Sustainability Ambassadors will have the opportunity to engage with fans at the most anticipated hockey game of the year. During the game, recycling ambassadors will be stationed around the concourse at the Tsongas Center to educate fans on recycling best practices. At the conclusion of the game, there will be a final collection and count of bottles and cans diverted from landfill. The partnership with Casella and services provided at this event highlight UMass Lowell's continued commitment to sustainable initiatives.
Volunteer Schedule and Timeline:
- 4:30 p.m. Dinner and refreshments provided to volunteers during event brief at University Crossing 158
- 5:30 p.m. Set up at Tsongas Center
- 7:05 p.m. Puck Drop
- 9:30 (estimate) End of game, final can collection
