Family Game Design Day - COME OUT AND GAME!
Innovation Hub Haverhill invites parents and kids to attend Family Game Design Day for a fun, free tabletop game making workshop!
Sign yourself and your child up today to attend a guided game making design workshop. No experience necessary and all materials will be supplied. Parents and kids will pair up to create original games through a series of creative exercises. Participants will have an opportunity to playtest their prototyped games with others…and meet new friends along the way!
Open to kids grades 3-6, parents encouraged to attend with child.
Saturday, Dec. 4
10 a.m. - noon
UMass Lowell Innovation Hub Haverhill, 2 Merrimack St., 3rd Floor, Haverhill
Participants will:
- Brainstorm original game concepts
- Be guided through a game design process
- Learn about the different roles in a game design team
- Create physical prototypes for their own tabletop game concepts
- Playtest games with other participants
- View demo of free tools to evolve game prototypes into interactive digital game
Workshops will be led by Emily Treat Czar, award winning game industry veteran and educator:
- Director of Design and Usability at Carnegie Learning
- Began career making learning toys at Leapfrog
- Game Project Advisor at Carnegie Mellon for 3 yrs
- Game Design Instructor for iHub Haverhill, New York Film Academy, Bunker Hill CC
