I’m very pleased to announce that we will be implementing retroactive salary increases shortly for many of our faculty and staff. I want to acknowledge the effort and commitment that members of our collective bargaining teams (both union and management members) have put into coming to successful agreements. Thank you.

I also want to take this opportunity to again recognize, and appreciate, the hard work and dedication that each and every one of you demonstrate each day as we work together to move forward from the impacts of the pandemic and support each other and our students’ success. I am so thankful and proud of the compassion, care and collaborative River Hawk spirit that you all bring to your work each day.

Our SEIU Professional and Teamsters University Police units reached agreements a few months ago, and Governor Baker has now signed the legislative bill authorizing funding for these ratified contracts. Last week, the university reached agreements with our MSP/Faculty, Clerical & Technical, and Maintenance & Trades units, and those ratified agreements are being submitted to the legislature for funding. We are hopeful, and optimistic, that the legislature will act on approving a supplemental funding bill for these agreements before they move to recess mid-November.

Our Human Resources team is working with the President’s Office to process salary increases for our SEIU professional, university police and non-unit employees which include:

  • a 2.5% increase retroactive to July 5, 2020;
  • another 2.0% increase retroactive to July 4, 2021; and
  • a 1.5% (minimum payment of $1,000) one-time bonus in consideration of the disruption brought about by COVID-19 and as recognition for the cooperation demonstrated by employees during this difficult time.

These salary adjustments will be processed over two pay periods: Pay date Nov. 12 will reflect salary rates adjusted by the two increases, 2.5% and 2.0%, and will include payment of the 1.5% bonus. Pay date Nov. 26 will include an additional lump sum reflecting, as appropriate for each employee, the salary adjustment due retroactive to July 2020.

Once we receive funding authorization for our remaining collective bargaining agreements, we will expedite processing payroll adjustments for employees in those units.

Again, thank you for all that you do for the university and our students every day.
