Abstract:
Modern bandwidth-intensive and heterogeneous network traffic necessitate development of advanced solutions for networks in many possible areas, such as network architectures, hardware, and algorithms. Two emerging network architectures, elastic optical networks (EON) and space division multiplexing (SDM), are considered as promising solutions for supporting the current and future challenges of massive network demands.
Our research scope is on supporting dynamic scheduling for SDM-EONs, in order to exploit the potential of both EON and SDM. We propose SDM slice-ability and SDM lightpath switching frameworks, that explore the spectral and temporal flexibility, respectively to efficient allocate bandwidth. We also find that these two frameworks are complementary in nature.
All the students and faculty members, who are interested in the topic, are welcome to attend this online defense.
