Stacy Szczesiul, associate professor of Leadership in Education, has agreed to serve as Associate Dean of Online Education, Accreditation & Licensing in FAHSS.

Szczesiul is an established researcher with interests in the role of internal and external accountability systems in school improvement and in the occupational expectations of teachers in a changing policy context. She received an Ed.D. in Education Policy, Leadership and Instructional Practice from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education in 2009.

Szczesiul led the design and coordinated the Ed.D. program in the School of Education. This program has been nationally recognized for the quality of its curriculum and training and has grown rapidly over the last few years. Stacy has extensive experience in accreditation and licensing, and she has served as external reviewer for academic programs in education. Stacy also has many years of experience establishing and maintaining long-term partnerships with community stakeholders.

As the Associate Dean of Online Education, Accreditation & Licensing, Stacy will work closely with our team of FAHSS department chairs and programs directors. She will be the point person for Assessment (including AQAD), Accreditation, Certification, and Licensure activities in the College. In addition, she will be the FAHSS liaison with Graduate and Professional Studies. The latter includes coordinating work with faculty and department chairs in developing and updating programs within FAHSS online offerings through GPS, shepherding new course proposals, advising on program development, new degrees and concentration proposals.

Finally, Stacy will carry supervisory responsibilities of some of the staff in the School of Education. We look forward to working with Stacy to advance our mission to provide a challenging and rewarding academic experience to our students, maintaining and delivering academic programs of high quality. Stacy’s appointment is effective Sept. 1, 2021. I want to thank Associate Dean Sue Kim and members of the search committee for their work in completing this search.
