The Ames Lot on East Campus will be closed beginning Monday, July 12 and is scheduled to reopen after Friday, August 20. During this closure, Facilities Project Management will repairing the sink holes in the Ames Lot and surface lot of Hall Street Garage, as well as reconfiguring the lot. Upon completion, the lot will have the following changes:
- Pivoting the division of student and faculty/staff parking. Instead of dividing the lot between Perkins and Hall Street, it will instead be divided between the Hall Street Garage and the Ames building. Faculty/staff will be parking on the Perkins Street side of the lot, and students will be parking on the Hall Street side of the lot. This redesign will allow for safer two-way traffic flow for all.
- The gate on Perkins Street that is currently used to enter the Ames Lot will be permanently removed to allow for the addition of more parking spaces.
- The new entrance and exit for faculty/staff will be the existing gates on Perkins Street across from the entrance of River Hawk Village.
- The entrance into the student portion of the lot will be via the garage.
- Several electric vehicle charging stations will be added to support the continued growth of electric vehicles coming to campus. These will be added after August 20.
During construction parking in the lot will not be available, however the Ames building will still be accessible. Alternative parking locations for faculty/staff permit holders, in order of proximity, can be found here:
- Hall Street Garage (temporary accommodation only between 7/12/21 - 8/20/21)
- Father Morrissette Blvd (current decal must be prominently displayed to avoid citation from the City of Lowell)
