The university’s Office Services team has been fielding calls recently about the speed of mail delivery both inbound and outbound from the university. UMass Lowell has been able to maintain daily receiving and delivery of mail to and from the U.S. Postal Services. However, as has been widely publicized in local and national media, USPS customers continue to experience widespread delivery delays.

While Office Services collects and processes mail from the mail stations at the Wannalancit Business Center, Graduate and Professional Studies building, University Crossing, Cumnock Hall and Central Receiving promptly, its work is dependent upon USPS timelines.

Additionally, Office Services picks up the mail daily from the USPS and sorts it accordingly. We are actively delivering inbound mail at least twice per week to approved departments on campus.

Mail for all other departments is collected and available for the pick-up at the beginning of each month at the Central Receiving office. All U.S. mail through February 2021 is currently available for pick-up for these UML departments.

Given the USPS delays, beyond UMass Lowell’s control, we advise departments to plan further in advance wherever possible.
