Morgan's Message is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that strives to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health within the student-athlete community and equalize the treatment of physical and mental health in athletics. We aim to expand the dialogue on mental health by normalizing conversations, empowering those who suffer in silence, and supporting those who feel alone. Morgan’s Message works to amplify stories, resources, and expertise to confront student-athlete mental health, build a community by and for athletes, and provide a platform for advocacy. Morgan Rodgers was a former Duke women’s lacrosse player, who in 2019 tragically lost her battle with mental health and took her own life. Morgan’s Message was created in her honor to work to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health within the student-athlete community and equalize the treatment of physical and mental health in athletics. Being an athlete competing at the highest level, it can be difficult to draw the line between being mentally tough and knowing when to seek help. Morgan’s Message and the organization’s ambassadors have made it their mission that no student-athlete feels alone. Morgan’s Message strives to normalize conversations around mental health through amplifying voices of those who are struggling, empowering those who suffer in silence, and supporting those who feel alone.
