Types of Employment

There are currently several types of employment available to our students. Each type of employment has varying eligibility criteria, application types and funding sources. The following information will explain each type and who qualifies.

 Federal Work Study/Student Employment

Eligibility: 

UMass Lowell students enrolled full-time in traditional undergraduate or graduate degrees, that file a FAFSA form, and meet specific need based criteria will receive notification of award with their financial aid package.

How to Apply:

  • Students must complete a FAFSA for the current academic year
  • Indicate on FAFSA (question 31) that you are interested in work 
  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by UMass Lowell and federal financial aid formulas
  • Students are awarded on a funds available basis as part of their financial aid packages
  • Students who receive a work award may log on to JobHawk to apply for jobs

 Job Location and Development

Eligibility:

Any enrolled student. Positions are located at off-campus employers, not affiliated with UMass Lowell.

How to Apply:

  • Log into JobHawk
  • Search for jobs
  • Apply through JobHawk to receive contact information for individual company
  • Submit resume to them directly

 Temporary On-Campus Student Employment

Eligibility:

Any enrolled student
