2026-2027 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Update

The Department of Education will be implementing a system update to the 2026-2027 FAFSA on Sunday, April 26, 2026. The system update will prevent schools from loading newly completed FAFSA records until a software fix is in place to accommodate the new FAFSA layout. UMass Lowell estimates that it will resume loading newly completed applications in late May.

Students are encouraged to complete the 2026-2027 FAFSA prior to April 26, 2026 to minimize delays in receiving financial aid offers.  Students who submit the FAFSA on or after April 26, 2026 will not be issued a financial aid offer until the Financial Aid Office is able to resume loading FAFSAs."
