Can international students apply for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)?

No, international students do not qualify for federal financial aid and should not complete the FAFSA.

When should I apply for admission?

UMass Lowell (UML) offers rolling admissions for most programs, but there are deadlines to apply for a visa document.

How do I check the status of my application for admission?

You may check the status of your application for admission through the application portal.

Who can answer my immigration questions?

Please direct questions about immigration to the International Students & Scholars Office (ISSO).

How much is the admission application fee?

The admissions application fee ranges between $50-$75, depending on your program of interest.

When will my I-20 be ready?

Does the University of Massachusetts Lowell award credit for the International Baccalaureate (IB) program and the Advanced Placement (AP) exams?

Yes, UMass Lowell awards credit for both exams. Please see the Policies for Advanced Standing Through Exams page for more information.

Can international students work on campus?

Yes, F1 and J1 students can work on campus. If you hold a different type of student visa, your eligibility to work on campus will vary.

Do you offer financial assistance?
