Eliza, you really must help me circulate this petition to the legislature to get them to pass a law limiting the workday to ten hours. The rallies and petitions to the overseers and the articles we have written have drawn attention to our cause, but it seems that the legislature is our only hope. You must see that yourself! Won't you help by signing this petition and getting the other girls in your boardinghouse to sign, too? Surely there are men in Boston who will listen if we speak with one voice?
