I attended two Career Fair Prep Workshops [Career Fair Prep & Career Fair Prep from the Employer’s Perspective]. I used the CareerLINK resources available online, and found the five companies I wanted to speak with at the fair. I wrote and prepared customized resumes and cover letters for each of the companies. A week before the Career Fair, I attended a Drop-In Resume Makeover session. Here I got help making my resume look professional and I got more advice on how to conduct myself in front of prospective employers.
I got great advice from attending the workshops prior to the Career Fair and I felt confident and prepared for the next steps. It isn’t often you find something you are passionate about and I certainly did thanks to the Career Fair. I know I want to have a successful career in the Aerospace and defense industry. Because I had done my research, I found a company (Mercury Systems, Inc.; Product Management Group) that interested me, had core values that I agreed with and was successful.
BRANDON’S ADVICE FOR STUDENTS
Take full advantage of the resources, I got great advice from attending the two workshops prior to the Career Fair and I felt confident and prepared. If I had not attended the information sessions before the career fair, I know as a fact I would not have been able to have the opportunity I have now.
