New International Student Orientation

Fall 2020 SCHEDULE

Thursday, August 27

  • 9 a.m.: Arrive to check in and meet your assigned Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) Ambassador in Olney 150 on North Campus. Bring your passport and student ID number.  A light breakfast will be provided.
  • 9:30-9:45 a.m.: Welcome and overview of orientation
  • 9:45-10:30 a.m.: Immigration Clearance Session by the International Students & Scholars Office
  • 10:30-11 a.m.: Immunizations & Health Insurance Presentation by Health Services
  • 11 a.m.-12 p.m.: Ice breakers with OMA Ambassadors
  • 12:15-1:15 p.m.: Lunch with OMA Ambassadors at Fox Dining Hall
  • 1:30-2 p.m.: Get UMass Lowell student ID's at the UCAPS office in University Crossing
  • 2-3 p.m.: Student Affairs & Academic Affairs Department Fair in University Crossing lobby with student cultural clubs and your academic advisors
  • 3-6 p.m.: Breakouts - Graduate Student Orientation in Moloney Hall, Undergraduate Student Advising in O'Leary library
  • 6:15-7:15 p.m.: Dinner at Fox Dining Hall on East Campus
  • 7:15-9:15 p.m.: Shopping trip to Target (optional)

Friday, August 28

  • 9 a.m.: Arrive back at Olney 150 on North Campus. A light breakfast will be provided.
  • 9:30-10:30 a.m.: Student Life Presentation by OMA, Student Activities & Career Services
  • 10:30-11:15 a.m.: Vendor Fair with banks, cell phone companies & SIM cards 
  • 11:15 a.m.-12 p.m.: Syllabus workshop with faculty
  • 12:15-1:15 p.m.: Lunch with OMA Student Ambassadors at Fox Dining Hall
  • 1:30-4:30 p.m.: Tour of campus and downtown Lowell
  • 5-6 p.m.: Dinner at Fox Dining Hall on East Campus
  • 6:30-8:30 p.m.: Campus Recreation: Soccer/Basketball (optional)

Saturday, August 29

  • 2-5 p.m.: Boat Tour of Lowell #1, sign-ups coming soon

Sunday, August 30

  • 2-5 p.m.: Boat Tour of Lowell #2, sign-ups coming soon

All new international students can review the Welcome Guide to assist in adjusting to the U.S. as a college student.
