About Us


As part of the Wellness Center, Health Services provides diagnosis and treatment of episodic illnesses such as:

  • Headaches
  • Vomiting
  • Colds
  • Rashes
  • Sore Throat
  • Sprains
  • Mononucleosis
  • Vaginitis
  • Nausea
  • Urinary Tract Infections, etc.

We provide evaluation and treatment of minor injuries as well as:

  • Gynecologic care
  • Contraceptive management and counseling
  • Diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted infections
  • Health and wellness counseling
  • Administration of immunizations
  • Laboratory work

Our registered dietitian offers free nutrition counseling for all UMass Lowell students. All appointments are confidential and personalized, taking into account food preferences, schedule, budget, etc., to help design a plan that helps achieve dietary goals.

Students often see our dietitian for a variety of concerns, including, but not limited to:

  • Food allergies and how to navigate the dining halls
  • Vegetarian/vegan diets (navigating the dining halls/making sure nutrition needs are being met)
  • How to make healthier choices in the dining hall
  • Improving sports/exercise performance

The staff of Health Services consists of nurse practitioners, registered nurses, a consultant MD a registered dietitian, a medical records coordinator and an insurance coordinator.

While walk-in service is provided for first aid, students must have an appointment to see a nurse practitioner, for an illness or routine health care.

There is no fee for any care given at Health Services. Students are financially responsible for all diagnostic test fees, prescription fees and all medical services received off-campus.
