Educational Background

B.S. in Health Information Management, Northeastern University, Boston, MA

Credentialed as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) through the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA)


Karen has 28 years of health-care experience working in the non-profit sector.  Her previous work included health information systems product development and client training for the Massachusetts Hospital Association, and managing operations and events for several non-profit, education-based, professional organizations.  She served as the Administrative Director for the Massachusetts Health Information Management Association for 22 years prior to joining UMass Lowell in 2010. 
Areas of Expertise and Professional Interests
In her current role at UMass Lowell, Karen works collaboratively with the Co-op Team managing aspects of the co-op student employment process including data management, contracts and assessments, statistical reporting, and planning specialized student/employer events.  At the department level, Karen manages the large career fair events and oversees the operation of the university’s online recruitment system, CareerLINK.
