Biosketch

Wael Kamal is Assistant Dean in the College of Fine Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. He provides strategic leadership in the areas of curriculum management, adjunct utilization, and adjunct contract management, retention, and academic success of undergraduate students. He also plays a part in the areas of advancement and the management of interdisciplinary undergraduate programs. Prior to serving as Assistant Dean, Kamal served as the founding Director of the Digital Media Program.

Kamal is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Art and Design Department. He began teaching film and video production at UMass Lowell in 2012. He has been a practitioner as a Director of Photography & Director of Lighting in the fields of commercial video, TV sets, and broadcasting stations. In addition, Kamal is an award winning photographer who has been the recipient of numerous photography awards and certificates of appreciation from both the Egyptian Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts Sector for his photography creations. Kamal exhibited his photography internationally in Japan, Malta, Italy, Spain, UAE, Poland, and Egypt.
