UMass Lowell is situated on the Merrimack River, which connects and supports life ranging all the way from the Atlantic to the Pemigewasset Wilderness in New Hampshire. It also supports our life here on campus, for the water we drink comes from the Merrimack as well. We are indebted to the Merrimack and it needs our help in return; a recent report publicized by the Lowell Sun lists the Merrimack River as one of the most endangered rivers in the country.
As such, we are working to do our best to:
- Take as little as possible from the Merrimack and
- To help it regain its vitality.
