About the Program
The UMass Lowell Farm Share Program, presented through the Rist Institute for Sustainability and Energy, offers a custom pre-boxed weekly share of fresh, certified REAL Organic produce from Clark Farm with weekly add-ons highlighting community partners and urban agriculture partner, Mill City Grows. The Farm Share Program offers a 12-week summer share, a 12-week fall share, and a 24-week growing season share (June-November). All shares are $35/week and are exclusively available to UMass Lowell students, faculty, and staff and will be available for pick-up on Thursday afternoons at University Crossing for the duration of the program.
Each week, members can expect their shares to include a variety of assorted seasonal crops, herbs harvested from the campus rooftop gardens, as well as additional items sourced from local community partners. Farm Share members will have access to Clark Farm's weekly newsletter, pick-your-own fields for select in-season crops (blueberries, strawberries, beans, flowers, etc.), full access to Clark Farm daily to explore the grounds, a series of exclusive events offered only to the UMass Lowell Farm Share community. Our members will have exclusive access to site visits, events, and educational opportunities directly with our community partners.
Please complete the participation form to be considered for the Farm Share Program. Please note that participation in the program is limited, and demand is expected to be high. Following the application period, Sustainability will confirm participation status and outline next steps around payments and pick-ups.
About Our Growers
The Farm Share Program is an extension of the UMass Lowell Urban Agriculture Program, highlighting accessibility to top quality produce. The program features Clark Farm as the primary produce partner and integrates the core mission of food justice and accessibility from Mill City Grows, UMass Lowell’s Urban Agriculture partner. Elements of the Mill City Grows mission are highlighted throughout the Farm Share season by offering unique produce grown at the request of members of the Lowell community. The Farm Share Program collaborates with a number of local community partners to offer a unique immersive experience beyond the weekly share of vegetables. Clark Farm, based in Carlisle, Mass., is certified by the REAL Organic Project, an organization which seeks to promote higher standards for organic food. As certified REAL Organic growers, Clark Farm produces the highest quality vegetables and berries for its CSA community, farm stand and local restaurants while supporting educational opportunities around sustainable agriculture practices.
