River Hawks Recycle Right

Rowdy, the University mascot, is seen interacting with students as they move in to their college residences on "Move-In" Day!

Move-In Day on East Campus!

There will be Sutainability Resource Ambassadors wearing bright yellow vests throughout campus to answer any questions you may have. Once you have moved in, please follow these instructions for your waste.

Cardboard Boxes and Styrofoam 

  1. Separate any Styrofoam found in cardboard boxes or other packaging and give it to a Resource Ambassador or put it next to dumpster, on the grass, or close by. (The Office of Sustainability will be collecting this).
  2. Put all other non cardboard materials found in any packaging in a trash dumpster. 
  3. Break down all cardboard boxes and give them to a Resource Ambassador, or place next to the dumpster (***If you live in Riverhawk Village or Fox Hall- please put the flattened cardboard in the cardboard only dumpster).

Plastic Beverage Bottles - Empty and toss in a recycling container.

All Single Use Plastic Clear Cups - Only the cup is recyclable. Trash the lid, the straw and any liquids inside.

All Single Use Styrofoam or Hot Cups - Empty the contents in the sink and then place in a trash container.

Plastic Trash Bags/Shrink Wrap/Plastic Food Wrappers - Toss in the trash.

By and large, the principal waste streams we see from Move-in consists of cardboard and plastics. When "River Hawks Recycle Right," we ensure that our waste streams have as much clean material as possible. The recycling materials are diverted from the waste stream which decreases our carbon footprint!
