UMass Lowell is thrilled to host the 2021 Sustainability Student Leaders Symposium. Students from the Northeast will congregate for a half-day conference featuring presentations, engagement workshops, breakout sessions and roundtable discussions.

The theme for the Symposium is centered around the importance of partnerships and collaboration in sustainability. The peer-to-peer environment will allow students to explore previous sustainability projects and identify future project implementation that will leave a lasting legacy throughout their own campus communities.

COVID-19 Protocol: Please note that the in-person format for the Sustainability Student Leaders Symposium is subject to change. UMass Lowell is currently monitoring and following Massachusetts state guidelines. Please refer to your university and state guidelines as applicable, as well as any travel restrictions when considering registration. Any updates will be included on any email announcements and published on the hosted website.


UMass Lowell will have dedicated housing accommodations at the UMass Lowell Inn & Conference Center. Please email: to reserve as needed. Please note that space is limited and intended for those who would otherwise be unable to travel to UMass Lowell for the symposium due to their school’s location.

Call for Proposals

The Sustainability Student Leaders Symposium is now accepting proposals. Presentations should be about 10 minutes long and should tie into the symposium theme. To have your proposal considered, please submit a brief description of your presentation to After review, the team will notify those accepted.
