Do you know an older adult, 65 years or older who would like to participate in a study on healthy aging, physical activity, falls and neighborhood environments?

Public health researchers from UMass Lowell are conducting a 3-year study to investigate the relationship between aging, physical activity, falls and the outdoor environment. This is an observational study in which there is no intervention or blood work.

Participants will have a visit every six months at a location convenient to them. They will be asked to complete physical measurements and survey booklets. At four of the seven visits, participants will wear devices that measure physical activity and location for 10 days.

The first study visit will be one and a half hours. At future timepoints, all visits are less than an hour.

To be eligible for the study, one must be at least 65 years old to participate. A member of the research team will follow up with those who express interest in order to work out the details.

A $50 gift card will be provided at each study timepoint; and a $25 gift card will be provided for the 18-month survey.
