As part of the Enable Inclusive Identity Project, sponsored by the offices of the Registrar, Multicultural Affairs, University Relations and Information Technology, UMass Lowell students will be able to share important parts of their identities within the Student Information System “SIS” in a more personal, respectful and seamless manner.

The first phase of the inclusive project is the ability for students to update their “Chosen” Name. Students may now log into SIS and choose to display a Chosen Name instead of their Primary Name. The Chosen Name will be displayed in class/grade rosters, advisor’s dashboards and the Blackboard LMS System. During the Fall 2022 semester, the ability for students to share gender identities and pronouns will also be in place.

UMass Lowell hopes these system enhancements will create an inclusive and supportive environment for all students. Visit The Solution Center website for more information about updating your Chosen Name.
