With the semester starting, I want to encourage all faculty to sign up for Faculty Bystander Training, cosponsored by the new ADVANCE Office for Faculty Equity (Provost’s Office) and the NSF-funded Making WAVES Initiative (Center for Women & Work).

Two workshops are available:

  • Microaggressions & Bystander Behavior: A Tool Kit (Feb. 7, 10 a.m. to noon, in person)
Recommended for those who have not yet attended a WAVES bystander training workshop.
    Register online.
  • Intersectional Microaggressions: Race, Ethnicity, Sexual Orientation & More (March 23, 10 a.m. to noon, virtual)
Recommended for those who have attended a prior WAVES bystander training workshop or already have a solid foundation or knowledge about bystander behavior.
    Register online.

These training sessions are practical: They are devoted to building participants’ skill in identifying and interrupting instances of microaggressions. The hands-one, two-hour trainings provide opportunities for active learning.

I encourage you to register online now.
