2021-2022 Chancellor’s Medals Application is now OPEN!

Every year the university acknowledges graduating students committed to the areas of student service, community service, diversity &inclusion; awarding up to eight medals in each service area upon the recommendation of members within the greater university community.

Application is now open for the 2021-2022 academic year

Application deadline is Feb. 11, 2022.

Eligibility

  • Students who have completed their degree in December 2021
  • Graduating student who expect to receive their degree in May 2022
  • Undergraduate students who have a 2.0 minimum GPA
  • Graduate students who have a minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Graduate students are ineligible for the Student Service Award
  • Student who are in good disciplinary standing (not on disciplinary probation)

Relevant Experience

Applicants are required to submit a record of their co-curricular activities, research projects, practicums and any other relevant experience that is applicable from last four academic years. Positions of leadership with some form of remuneration (salary, housing, credit) should be included. Strictly volunteer efforts will be given special consideration in the selection process.

Recommendations

  • Candidates must submit recommendations (a minimum of two, maximum of three) from campus supervisors, faculty and/or staff, as well as others in the greater surrounding community, in the case of the community service award.
  • Note: Committee members cannot write recommendations.
  • Once you enter the name and email address of your desired recommender, an email will be sent to them with instructions to complete the recommendation. If your recommender has an issue completing their recommendation, please have them contact student_affairs@uml.edu


Recognition

Include the name of the award/scholarship, organization name, and year received.

Results

  • All applicants will be notified of the status of their application by April 2022. Please be aware that by submitting an application, the final applicants’ information on it will be made available to the media.
  • Those students selected as recipients will be invited to attend the Pre-Commencement Gala in May 2022, to receive their award. They will help lead the graduating students in the Commencement processional and will be seated on stage for additional recognition during the Commencement Ceremony.
