Interim Leader Appointed for College of Education

Luis Falcón, dean of the College of Fine Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, has been appointed to also serve as interim dean of the College of Education effective Jan. 19 as Eleanor Abrams returns to the faculty.

Dean Falcón is a skilled academic leader who will continue to accelerate the momentum Dean Abrams has established as UMass Lowell expands its undergraduate education programs and strengthens its graduate programs and research mission.

I am grateful to him and his leadership team for taking on this additional important responsibility.

Sharon Subreenduth will continue in her role as associate dean and James Nehring will continue in his role as department chair, both reporting to Dean Falcón.

This interim leadership position will be revisited at the end of the semester when we expect to begin emerging from the pandemic.
