As the ACIO and Chief Information Security Officer, Jim is responsible for the overall planning, development, implementation, and oversight of the university’s campus-wide information security program, designed to ensure university information assets are adequately protected.

Jim works collaboratively with senior administration, academic leaders, and the campus community to establish information security programs, including information security policy, practices, and standards; information security awareness and training; information security incident response and management; risk assessment and management; and information security resource investments.

Hired by UMass Lowell in 2002, Jim has significant experience in engineering and IT management, software development, and IT security operations. He is an active member in the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) community, and Educause Policy and Security committees.
