Biosketch

Laura Barefield, Ph.D., specializes in Old and Middle English literature and languages. Her secondary interests lie in Classical Mythology, and Medieval Women Writers. She has published a book, "Gender and History in Medieval Romance and Chronicle." She has written several articles on Chaucer and gender in Medieval literature. Recent essays include "Questioning Masculinity and Sacrifice in Iliad 22 and The Battle of Maldon" in Studies in Medieval and Renaissance Teaching, and "Personal Narratives: A Gateway to HEL" in Teaching the History of the English Language (MLA Options for Teaching).
