American Red Cross Lay Responder Classes

Campus Recreation offers American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid Certification classes. CPR/AED and First Aid certifications carry a 2-year certification with the American Red Cross.

Please Note: This class is intended for the lay responder and is not for the healthcare provider!

CPR/AED & First Aid Class Outline

Training will combine lecture and interactive video demonstrations featuring emergency scenarios that are likely to occur in a variety of environments, as well as hands-on training to teach participants lifesaving skills.

  • CPR Adult: Participants will learn how to perform CPR and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults.
  • CPR Child & Infant: Participants will learn how to prevent, recognize, and respond to cardiac breathing emergencies in infants and children under the age of 12.
  • AED: Participants will learn how and when to use an automatic external defibrillator.
  • First Aid: Participants will learn how to recognize and care for a variety of first aid emergencies such as burns, cuts and scrapes, sudden illnesses, head, neck, and back injuries, and heat and cold emergencies.

Registration Fees: $85/person. Each class is limited to 12 people. Note: All classes will be held inside the UMass Lowell Campus Recreation Center Meeting Room, 322 Aiken St., Lowell, MA 01854.

Please note that if you do not see the class you are looking for, this means the class has filled up. Check our website for updates on other classes we may offer in the future. Participants may also register at the Campus Recreation Center Welcome Desk, or Riverview Fitness Center on South Campus.

Note: No refunds will be given once classes start.
