The Office of Student Life & Well-being invites you to participate in HAIL™, a training session designed to support your work with students through effective problem-solving and resiliency-focused conversations.
HAIL™ is a conversation scaffolding tool that helps guide students through challenges by promoting critical thinking, reflection, and resilience. It offers a structured yet flexible approach that faculty and staff can use across advising, teaching, and student support interactions. We first piloted HAIL™ at UMass Lowell in 2024 with 25 trained users, and the response was overwhelmingly positive. Based on early success and meaningful preliminary outcomes, particularly related to student empowerment and confidence in navigating challenges, the program has expanded significantly. This semester, HAIL™ has grown to nearly 300 trained users across campus. The program is free for the UML community, supporting a shared, campus-wide investment in student success.
