Across the Years: Three Franco Poets from Lowell

Across the Years: Three Franco Poets from Lowell

A  Québecois Lowell physician who wrote Symbolist-influenced poetry in French through the late 19th and early 20th centuries. A Lowell-born poet, essayist, and playwright with a deep interest in her own Franco background, Kerouac, and the Franco spirituality that grounded both. And a Greater-Lowell poet, publisher, essayist, public servant, and champion of Kerouac in his native city and beyond. What do they have in common? How do they differ? What role has French and the vagaries of family, upbringing, and education played in their poetry?

Come hear and discuss at a Lowell Franco Festival event hosted and moderated by UML Professor Mercédès Baillargeon, PhD.
