Solar Eclipse Extravaganza

The Astronomy Club presents a once-in-a-lifetime event celebrating the solar eclipse, with Lowell having an estimated 94% of the sun covered. The eclipse will start around 3:30 PM, so starting at noon we will be passing out free solar eclipse glasses while supplies last. In case you can't make it to South Campus, don't worry, there will be some at North Campus as well in the Southwick Quad. However, the festival on South Campus will also have live music, solar telescopes, and free bracelets that you can make with UV-reactive beads that change color in the sun! Members of the astronomy club and the Schueller Observatory will be there to answer any questions you have about the eclipse. We will also have informative flyers about the science behind the eclipse and how you can make your own solar viewer using a cereal box or shoe box. Join us for a lovely day, watching the sun get almost completely blocked by the moon!
