FireCyte is an emerging biotechnology company developing novel treatment strategies that address neurodegenerative diseases of the eye. The underlying scientific underpinnings of the company are based on work conducted at the Schepen’s Eye Research Institute of Mass. Eye and Ear, a Harvard Medical School teaching hospital. The company was co-founded by Scientific Founder Dong Feng Chen and Bill Yelle, CEO.

 

During the presentation, Bill will describe the company formation process and take you on a journey starting at when the co-founders first met through a successful $12 MM seed financing and the establishment of a physical presence in an incubator. As part of the presentation, a variety of subjects will be addressed, including the intersection of science and market need, venture planning, establishing an operational framework and fund-raising. In addition, how the process was facilitated by a university-based system.
