Returning to Campus

Spring 2021 Plan to Return to Campus

After careful consideration and the successful repopulation of the campus this semester, UMass Lowell is planning to reopen in the spring at the scale initially planned for the fall:

  • Up to 30% of the approximately 3,000 sections to be delivered either in-person or through hybrid formats. The remaining sections will be taught in either online (asynchronous) or virtual (synchronous and asynchronous components) formats.
  • Doubling current on-campus presence of residential students from 700 up to 2,000, maintaining one student per bedroom and 40% of capacity. Dining will include reservations in the dining hall and extensive “grab-and-go” options.
  • On-campus staff will continue to be restricted to align with the state’s recommendations for meeting size and office staffing. No office is operating at greater than 25% in-person capacity at any one time.
