Navigating the Admissions Process

Students benefit from parental support during the college search. Whether you are helping your student evaluate programs or meet application deadlines, you will want to review information about our admission process so you and your student know what to expect.

Planning a Visit

We recommend that you and your student visit the campus to see firsthand what UMass Lowell has to offer and determine whether it’s a good fit. The Admissions Office schedules tours and open houses for prospective students; accepted students are invited to attend Welcome Day and orientation activities along with other students in their college and/or major. All of these are great ways to get to know UMass Lowell.

Paying for College

UMass Lowell is committed to keeping the cost of higher education affordable. On average we make offers to meet 90% of a qualified student’s demonstrated need. Undergraduate aid includes both need- and merit-based scholarships as well as grants and loans. You may also want to investigate our various reduced tuition programs.

Be sure to file the Free Application for Federal Student Assistance (FAFSA) by the March 1 deadline to be eligible for most need-based awards.
