Although substance abuse, sexual violence and suicide do not become a problem for most students, they are issues that affect the entire campus community. This is why it is vital that faculty and staff not only know how to recognize a student in distress, it's imperative that they know the appropriate resources to refer them to.
The UMass Lowell "Red Folder" is a resource for all faculty and staff, to help in providing support to students. The folder contains warning signs of a struggling student, workshop opportunities to learn more, tips on approaching a student and information on sexual violence reporting.
