Biosketch

Mimi Tam, Ph.D., been in the Telecommunications/Wireless Engineering Industry for over 35 years starting out working on 1G (Circuit Switches - Land lines), 2G, 3G, WiMAX, 4G/LTE, 5G/6G & other emerging technologies including Blockchain, AI ML/DL, SDN/NFV & Quantum Computing. She has degree in EE, received her Ph.D. in Computer Science and her passion is in physics. She had worked for IBM, Motorola, Verizon Labs, Computer Associates as well as numerous start-ups including one of her own as an entrepreneur.

Mimi Tam is a lifelong SWE (Society of Women Engineer) member and a mentor to many young engineers throughout her career. She has been and is the current (2020 and 2021) SNH SWE president. She has also been a Senior Member of the IEEE (Institute of the Electrical and Electronic Engineers) since the 1980s and is the past and current chair of the IEEE WIE (Women in Engineering), past and current chair of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society, past and current chair of the IEEE Signal Processing Society. Mimi Tam is also a prolific speaker in Technical Forums and Conferences held internationally and domestically.
