The UMass Lowell Department of Environmental, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in Environmental Sciences, with concentrations in Environmental Studies, Geosciences and Atmospheric Sciences.
Our programs provide a firm base in science and mathematics and a broad understanding of the natural environment. Programs of study prepare students for a variety of careers in research labs, industry, consulting firms and governmental agencies.
Faculty are engaged in cutting-edge research in climate science, atmospheric chemistry, environmental pollution, geochemistry, igneous petrology, geomorphology, and spectroscopy. Much of this research is funded through federal and state agencies, such as National Science Foundation, NASA, and the Department of Energy. We offer undergraduate and graduate research opportunities, private-sector internships and community service activities.
Prospective students are encouraged to explore our Programs of Study and are free to contact us with any questions.
