On May 6, 2015, the Printed Electronics Research Collaborative (PERC) initiative was officially launched. The stakeholders in attendance included representatives from the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative Innovation Institute (MTC), corporate members and prospective members, as well as UMass Lowell Faculty and Staff. Julie Chen, Ph.D., Vice Provost for Research at UMass Lowell and Mr. Partrick Larkin, Director for the MTC opened the meeting. They shared a common vision to drive economic growth through innovative solutions leveraging additive manufacturing - printed electronics (AM/PE). Transitioning from vision to reality, Craig Armiento, Ph.D., PERC Director, presented an update with respect to PERC since its inception and highlighted the current active research.
Throughout the meeting, three primary PERC goals were articulated.
- Develop a strong interactive supply chain
- Accelerate identification of market opportunities and provide solutions to technical challenges
- Build the talent pipeline with the next generation of AM/PE engineers
These goals cannot be achieved alone.
