Conflict of Interest - A conflict of interest is a set of circumstances that creates a risk that professional judgment or actions regarding a primary interest will be unduly influenced by a secondary interest.
The Associate Vice Chancellor (AVC) for Research Administration and Compliance is the institutional official charged with oversight of the UMass Lowell Conflicts Committee. The Offices of Institutional Compliance (OIC) and Research Administration (ORA)
work together to report and manage any reported conflicts and report directly to the VPR. The UMass Lowell Conflicts Committee reviews conflict disclosures and proposes management of the conflict to the System-wide Conflicts Committee for final guidance as to management of conflicts of interest reported by UMass Lowell Covered Individuals.
