For the program to succeed, the Steering Committee must be oriented to the following principles:
- Employee health is influenced by the work environment in general, and not simply individual habits
- Line-level employees have extensive personal experience with their work environment, and therefore understand how the workplace influences their health
- For these reasons, workplace health suggestions that come from line-level workers (the Design Team) are valuable and worthy of consideration
Internalizing these principles will help the Steering Committee work with the Design Team appropriately. Healthy changes in the workplace are achieved when the Steering Committee buys into the program, and understands the value of employee input.
