The Literature Review was conducted by Paula Rayman, Padmaja Sistla and Stacie Hargis.
The literature search was conducted between November 2005 and February 2006. Twelve different database vendors were searched, covering approximately 20 major databases, including STEM fields, as well as sociological, psychological, and educational fields. Only items written from 1970-and later were collected. All citations were stored in a Refworks database, sorted by years and by database. As citations began to accumulate, the PIs examined them, read the abstracts and indicated which ones should be investigated in more detail. See the full Literature Review (pdf).
