Biosketch

Vanessa worked in accounting for a short-time before shifting her commitment and focus to community engagement. She served as an AmeriCorps member building homes for Habitat for Humanity, and then joined City Year leading large groups of volunteers in civic engagement projects. Vanessa was eager to find a ways to expose more college aged students to nonprofit work. Nothing brought this dream to life more than when she secured her position at UMass Lowell, where every year she is able to place students in Co-ops and Internship with local nonprofits, helping to provide the students with irreplaceable real world experiences while also providing invaluable service to the nonprofits where they are placed. Additionally, she has the pleasure of supporting community engaged faculty in partnering with organizations on credit-bearing service-learning projects. Vanessa’s key skills are partnership management, job placement for students, networking event support, and program management.
