The UMass Lowell First-Year Orientation Program is required for all First-Year students entering the university. It is the only opportunity, you, as an incoming student, will have to meet with an advisor and get the information you need to start your semester.

Combined, our two components of Virtual Orientation (Transactional & Informational) are designed to give you the foundation you need to make a successful start in your student career. You will get a preview of life as an undergraduate and a chance to have your questions answered. Orientation sessions are organized by college and major our Orientation Leaders assisting you through the process are current students. They can give you the inside track on campus life, classes, and just about anything.

Through our Virtual Orientations, we will ask you to complete the following steps:

  1. Placement Testing, prior to your Virtual Orientation Session
    • The links are sent to you via email.
  2. A Transactional Virtual Orientation
    • Available dates depend on the college you were admitted into.
  3. An Informational Virtual Orientation
    • These are open to anyone – select a date that fits your schedule!
