Assoc. Prof. of Operations and Information Systems Asil Oztekin represented the Manning School of Business at the Decision Sciences Institute’s (DSI) annual conference, held Nov. 23-25, 2019, in New Orleans.

The DSI, which was celebrating its 50th anniversary, is the second largest academic association in analytics and decision making in the world. Nearly 1,300 DSI members attended the conference, which was themed “Transforming Decision Sciences through Emergent Technologies.”

Oztekin served as the co-chair of the business analytics track, which selected and hosted 72 paper presentations (out of 1,136 total papers presented) after a rigorous peer review process.

In addition, Oztekin is the first faculty member to represent the Manning School in the Decision Sciences Journal, serving as an associate editor of business analytics. Oztekin was invited by Galit Shmueli, the DSJ Department Editor of Business Analytics.

“I feel honored to serve on the editorial board of this prestigious journal, which is consistently highly ranked within top journals of analytics and decision making,” Oztekin says. “As much as I love research and teaching, I also very much enjoy doing this kind of service to the academic community which I am a part of.”
