Faculty Focus on Essential Learning Outcomes

MSB Professional Communications

12/11/2015

Professional Communications is a core course taken by every student in the Manning School of Business. There are more than 20 sections operating in the fall 2015 semester. Based on an increase in admissions, the expectation for fall 2016 is an increase to 24 sections.

To ensure that the course is aligned with the university’s Essential Learning Outcomes (ELOs), Adjunct Prof. Deb Casey met with all 10 of the program’s instructors.

“We discussed learning objectives, talked about best practices, and coordinated the class,” says Casey. “Professional Communications is a very important part of the learning process. There’s a big difference between college writing and business writing.”

“The main purpose of the meeting was to significantly enhance the quality of the professional communication course,” says Eunsang Yoon, Marketing, Entrepreneurship and Innovation department chair. “Coordination is key, and Deb has really been a champion for this.”
