Outstanding Grads from Each College Earn University Awards

CEOs, presidents and vice presidents; the manager of a global organization; a senior healthcare provider; a teacher; and a partner of a major technology firm will be honored during the 2012 University Alumni Awards … Celebrating Excellence event Thursday, April 19. The awards ceremony will be held from 5:30–7:30 p.m. at the UMass Lowell Inn & Conference Center, 50 Warren St., Lowell. The event recognizes prominent UMass Lowell alumni while benefiting student scholarships.
“The University Alumni Awards recognize alumni who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment in their fields,” says Edward Chiu, vice chancellor for the Office of University Advancement. “The achievements of our awardees are a testament to the exceptional foundation they received at the University. We take pride in celebrating their accomplishments.”
Since 1998, UMass Lowell has recognized more than 100 alumni and friends for their noteworthy contributions to science, the arts, engineering, business, healthcare, the University and the greater community.
“The University Alumni Awards are a great opportunity for alumni and friends to honor our most prominent alumni who have made such a great impact on society since graduation,” says Heather Makrez ’06, ‘08, director of alumni relations, and a fellow alumna.
Each year, a prominent alumna/alumnus in each school or college, along with one recent graduate, are honored.
