Jon Hohrath, left, a senior who just graduated from Chelmsford High School (he'll attend UML in the fall), and Scott Yim, right, a junior from Methuen High School, share a moment following their June 11 graduation ceremonies with state Sen. Steve Panagiotakos.  The two regional high-school students, both members of UMass Lowell’s TEAMS Academy program, completed the program for which Panagiotakos was instrumental in securing funding for the program. It was open this past year to specially selected 11th- and 12-graders from area schools, and funded by a one-year $650,000 legislative apportionment, sponsored chiefly by Sen. Panagiotakos. It is expected that the funding will be renewed, and possibly increased, for the 2008-09 academic year.
