Warner Says Manufacturers Would Use Non-Toxic Technologies If Available

Green Chemistry Director’s Views Appear in Industry Journal

Manufacturers would use non-toxic alternatives in their productive processes for their own self interest but few such alternatives are available, John Warner says in a recent issue of the journal Chemical & Engineering News.

Warner contends that this lack of availability is due to the failure to include toxicology or information about environmental laws and policies in chemistry education.

The director of the Center for Green Chemistry made his views known in an editorial, titled “Unintended Consequences,” in the journal’s April 24 issue. The editorial may be viewed at www.greenchemistry.uml.edu
