Computer science prof awarded $4.5M for cybersecurity research

Computer Science Prof. Xinwen Fu has been awarded more than $4.5 million by the National Science Foundation and the U.S. Department of Energy for his research on cybersecurity related to the Internet of Things. IoT is the network of separate physical and virtual devices that communicate with each other wirelessly, without human interaction or intervention.

How 2,700 courses went from on campus to online in 10 days

As the COVID-19 crisis was growing exponentially across the U.S. and state officials were calling for remote operations and social distancing, UMass Lowell was among the first in the state to move its spring semester from on campus to online. That meant tackling challenges in technology and teaching to get 2,700 courses online in just 10 days.

Juggling job and home when everyone’s working remotely

Like millions of Americans, Elana Feldman is working from home and trying to educate and entertain her children. An assistant professor of management, she is now drawing on her own research on issues like time management and juggling home and work demands.
